Common Use

Nizoral is an antifungal antibiotic used to treat serious fungal or yeast infections. It is effective against conditions such as:

• Candidiasis
• Blastomycosis
• Coccidioidomycosis
• Histoplasmosis
• Chromoblastomycosis
• Paracoccidioidomycosis

Nizoral works by interfering with the formation of the fungal cell membrane. It is also prescribed for parasitic fungal skin infections that do not respond to topical treatments or griseofulvin, or for patients who cannot take griseofulvin.

Dosage and Direction

Take Nizoral orally with food or milk at the same time each day.

• Adults: The recommended starting dose is 200 mg once daily.
• Children 2 years and older: Dose is based on body weight (3.3-6.6 mg/kg as a single daily dose). Do not use without a doctor's prescription.
• Children under 2 years: Consult a doctor before use.

Precautions

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not double the dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose.

Overdose

Symptoms of Nizoral overdose are not well-documented. Seek immediate medical help if an overdose is suspected. Supportive treatments like gastric lavage may be required.

Storage

Store Nizoral at room temperature (59-77°F or 15-25°C) away from light, moisture, children, and pets. Do not use after the expiration date.
