Common Use

Stugeron is an antihistamine drug primarily used to control vomiting caused by motion sickness. It is also effective in treating the following conditions:

• Cerebrovascular insufficiency (dizziness, tinnitus, poor concentration, memory issues)
• Discirculatory encephalopathy
• Involutional psychosis or depression
• Post-stroke or traumatic brain injury conditions
• Migraine
• Vestibular disorders (Meniere's syndrome, kinetosis, disequilibrium, nausea, vomiting, nystagmus)
• Peripheral circulation disorders (Raynaud's disease, arteriosclerosis obliterans, thromboangiitis, diabetic angiopathy, trophic and varicose ulcers, acrocyanosis, paresthesia, nocturnal cramps, cold extremities)

Mechanism of Action

Stugeron acts as both an antihistamine and a calcium channel blocker. It works by:

• Blocking histamine effects (smooth muscle contraction, vasodilation, gastric acid secretion)
• Improving cerebral and peripheral blood circulation
• Inhibiting L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscles

Dosage and Directions

Take Stugeron orally after meals. Dosage varies based on the condition:

• Vestibular and cerebral blood flow disorders: 25 mg, 3 times daily
• Motion sickness prevention: 25 mg, 30 minutes before travel (repeat after 6-8 hours if needed)
• Peripheral circulation disorders: 50-75 mg daily, divided into 3 doses (long-term use requires medical supervision)
• Children: Reduced dosage as advised by a healthcare provider

Precautions

Consult your doctor before use if you:

• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Have a history of allergies
• Have Parkinson's disease (use only if benefits outweigh risks)

Other precautions include:

• Elderly patients may experience extrapyramidal disorders (tremor, rigidity, hypokinesia) at high doses (150 mg/day); discontinue if these occur
• May impair concentration, use caution when driving or operating machinery
• Long-term use requires monitoring of liver, kidney function, and blood count

Contraindications

Do not use Stugeron if:

• You are allergic to it or any of its components
• You are breastfeeding

Possible Side Effects

Adverse reactions may include:

• Drowsiness, fatigue, headache
• Extrapyramidal disorders (tremor, muscle rigidity, hypokinesia)
• Dry mouth, epigastric pain, dyspepsia
• Cholestatic jaundice, sweating, skin rash
• Allergic reactions, blood pressure drop, weight gain

Drug Interactions

Stugeron may interact with:

• Tricyclic antidepressants and CNS depressants (increased effects)
• Alcohol (enhances sedation)
• Vasodilators and nootropic drugs (potentiated effects)
• Antacids and H2-blockers (may increase absorption)

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose:

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If near the next dose, skip the missed dose
• Do not double the dose

Overdose

The maximum daily dose should not exceed 225 mg (9 tablets). Seek immediate medical help if severe side effects occur.

Storage

Store at 15-20°C in a dark, dry place. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
