Common use

Phenergan Syrup (promethazine) treats allergic reactions, hay fever, motion sickness, nausea, vomiting and provides mild sedation. It works by blocking histamine receptors and acts on brain areas that control nausea and sedation.

Dosage and direction

Take Phenergan Syrup exactly as prescribed by a healthcare professional.

1. Take by mouth with or without food.
2. Use a proper measuring device for liquid doses.
3. Do not exceed the prescribed amount.

Precautions

• Tell your doctor if you have asthma, sleep apnea, lung disease, glaucoma, liver disease, seizures, gastrointestinal obstruction, urinary retention or cardiovascular conditions.
• Avoid driving or operating machinery because the drug may cause drowsiness.
• Avoid alcohol as it increases sedative effects.

Contraindications

• Do not use if you are allergic to promethazine or other phenothiazines.

Missed dose

If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Skip the missed dose and do not double the dose.

Overdose

Overdose symptoms include extreme drowsiness, confusion, slow or shallow breathing, seizures or loss of consciousness. Seek emergency medical attention right away.

Storage

Store Phenergan Syrup at room temperature, away from heat, light and moisture. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children and pets.
