Micardis HCT is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension in adults. It combines an angiotensin II receptor blocker with a diuretic to improve blood pressure control and reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications such as stroke. It is typically used when single-drug therapy is insufficient.
Take Micardis HCT exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. It is usually taken once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not adjust the dose without medical advice.
Before taking Micardis HCT, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease. Monitor blood pressure regularly. This medication may cause dizziness, especially at the start of therapy. Maintain adequate hydration while using the drug.
Do not use Micardis HCT if you are hypersensitive to any of its components, have severe kidney impairment, or are unable to urinate. It is contraindicated during pregnancy due to risk to the fetus. Breastfeeding mothers should consult a doctor before use.
Common side effects include:
Seek medical attention if severe reactions occur.
Micardis HCT may interact with other blood pressure medications. Using it with potassium supplements or potassium‑sparing diuretics may raise potassium levels. Nonsteroidal anti‑inflammatory drugs may reduce its effectiveness. Always inform your doctor about all medications you are taking.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses at the same time. Resume your normal dosing schedule.
Symptoms of overdose may include severe dizziness, fainting, or low blood pressure. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage. Supportive medical care may be required.
Store Micardis HCT at room temperature away from heat and moisture. Keep the tablets in their original packaging. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
