Common Use

Venlor is a medication within the serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) class and contains the active ingredient Venlafaxine Hydrochloride. It is primarily used to treat major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. Additionally, it is effective in reducing pain related to diabetic neuropathy and fibromyalgia.

Dosage and Direction

Take Venlor orally with a glass of water, either with or without food, once daily in the morning or evening. Do not cut, crush, or chew the medication. Use the medicine exactly as prescribed and do not discontinue it without consulting your doctor.

If you have kidney or liver issues, consult your doctor to determine the appropriate dosage for your condition.

Precautions

Before using Venlor, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have any allergies to the medication or other substances. Notify your healthcare provider if you have a history of bipolar disorder, eye problems, or liver or kidney issues.

Elderly patients may be more susceptible to the side effects of this medication. During pregnancy, Venlor should only be used when absolutely necessary. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should avoid handling the medicine directly, as it can be absorbed through the skin.

Contraindications

Venlor should not be used by pregnant or nursing women, children, or individuals who have experienced a hypersensitivity reaction to Venlafaxine.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects of Venlor include rapid or irregular heartbeat, tremors, anxiety, blurred vision, vomiting, fever, and diarrhea. Although rare, severe allergic reactions may occur. Drug Interaction

Inform your doctor or pharmacist about all prescription, nonprescription, and herbal products you are using before starting Venlor. This medication may interact with the following:

• MAO inhibitors: Furazolidone, Isocarboxazid, Linezolid, Moclobemide, Tranylcypromine.
• Antiarrhythmic drugs: Propafenone, Quinidine.
• Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs): Citalopram, Dapoxetine, Fluoxetine, Fluvoxamine, Paroxetine.
• Antipsychotics: Fluphenazine.
• H2-receptor antagonists: Cimetidine, Ranitidine, Famotidine, Nizatidine.

Wait at least 14 days after stopping MAO inhibitors before starting Venlor, or wait 7 days after stopping Venlor before starting MAO inhibitors. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for further details.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Overdose

In case of an overdose, seek emergency medical attention immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include chest pain, nausea, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, or fainting.

Storage

Store Venlor at room temperature, between 68-77°F (20-25°C), away from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not store the medication in the bathroom.
