Tritace is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. Its active substance, ramipril, is converted in the liver to its active metabolite, ramiprilat. Tritace is commonly prescribed to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), congestive heart failure, and to prevent stroke or myocardial infarction. It is also used to improve survival rates after a heart attack. ACE inhibitors help widen blood vessels, reducing blood pressure in the arteries leading to the kidneys, which minimizes damage caused by hypertension. Additionally, it reduces proteinuria and slows the progression of renal disease in patients with nephropathies.
The recommended dosage of Tritace is 2.5-20 mg per day, taken orally as a single dose or divided into two doses.
Tritace is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to ramipril or other ACE inhibitors, particularly those who have experienced angioedema during previous ACE inhibitor therapy.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule.
Symptoms of an overdose may include extreme dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. If you suspect an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.
Store Tritace at room temperature (15-30°C or 59-86°F) away from light, moisture, pets, and children.
