Common Use

Tradjenta is prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). It works by inhibiting the DPP‑4 enzyme, increasing incretin hormone levels, which stimulates insulin release after meals and reduces glucose production in the liver.

Dosage and Administration

Take Tradjenta once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole. Your healthcare provider may prescribe it alone or in combination with metformin, insulin, sulfonylureas, or other diabetes medications. Follow your doctor's dosing instructions carefully.

Precautions

Before using Tradjenta, inform your doctor if you have a history of pancreatitis, kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, or gallstones. Monitor for severe abdominal pain and maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise as part of your diabetes management plan.

Contraindications

Tradjenta is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to linagliptin or any tablet components. It is not indicated for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at the same time.

Overdose

Overdose may increase side effects or alter blood glucose levels. Seek medical attention immediately if an overdose is suspected.

Storage

Store Tradjenta at room temperature, protected from moisture, heat, and light. Keep the medication in its original packaging and out of reach of children.
