Toradol Uses

Toradol is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat moderate to severe pain, typically after surgery. It reduces hormones that cause inflammation and pain. Toradol is prescribed for short-term use (5 days or less), alone or combined with other medications.

Toradol Dosage and Administration

Take Toradol exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration. It is not for minor aches or pains. Initial doses are often given as an injection into a muscle or vein, followed by oral tablets taken with a full glass of water. Total treatment (injection plus oral) should not exceed 5 days to avoid kidney damage or bleeding risks. Inform your surgeon of recent Toradol use before any surgery.

Toradol Precautions

Long-term use increases risks of life-threatening heart attack or stroke. Avoid alcohol to prevent stomach bleeding. Inform your doctor before starting Toradol if you have:

• Are breastfeeding

Toradol Side Effects

Toradol can cause serious stomach or intestinal issues, including bleeding or perforation, which may be fatal and occur without warning. Contact your doctor immediately for:

• Black, bloody, or tarry stools
• Coughing up blood or vomit resembling coffee grounds

Toradol Drug Interactions

Avoid Toradol with pentoxifylline or probenecid. Use caution with other NSAIDs, as combinations may lead to overdose:

• Aspirin
• Ibuprofen
• Naproxen
• Diclofenac

Missed Toradol Dose

If taking Toradol regularly, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip it if nearly time for your next dose. Never double up.

Toradol Overdose

Seek emergency medical help for overdose. Symptoms include:

• Nausea or vomiting
• Stomach pain
• Drowsiness
• Black or bloody stools
• Coughing up blood
• Decreased urination
• Shallow breathing
• Fainting
