Common Use

Toficalm (Tofisopam) is a benzodiazepine derivative used to treat anxiety and stress-related disorders. Unlike traditional benzodiazepines, it has minimal sedative effects and does not cause significant muscle relaxation or cognitive impairment.

Dosage and Direction

The recommended dosage is usually 50-150 mg per day, divided into multiple doses as prescribed by a doctor. It should be taken orally with water, preferably after meals, to reduce potential stomach discomfort.

Precautions

• Patients with liver or kidney disorders should use Toficalm with caution.
• Avoid alcohol consumption, as it may enhance side effects.
• Not recommended for use in children and pregnant or breastfeeding women without medical supervision.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to tofisopam or other benzodiazepines.
• Severe respiratory insufficiency.
• Myasthenia gravis.
• Acute intoxication with alcohol or CNS depressants.

Possible Side Effects

• Headache, dizziness, nausea, and mild gastrointestinal discomfort.
• In rare cases, allergic reactions, mood changes, or palpitations may occur.
• Seek medical attention if severe side effects develop.

Drug Interaction

Toficalm may interact with alcohol, sedatives, and other CNS depressants, enhancing their effects. It can also alter the metabolism of some drugs processed by liver enzymes, requiring dosage adjustments.

Missed Dose

If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered. However, if it is close to the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, confusion, low blood pressure, and respiratory depression. Seek immediate medical assistance in case of overdose; symptomatic treatment may be required.

Storage

Store Toficalm in a cool, dry place at a temperature below 25°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets to prevent accidental ingestion.
