Common Use

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients. It works by relaxing blood vessels, blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance that narrows blood vessels and raises blood pressure. Telmisartan may also be prescribed for heart failure or kidney issues in diabetic patients. Controlling blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney damage.

Dosage and Direction

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for the next dose. Skip the missed dose if necessary, never double up. Take the medication at the same time daily to maintain stable blood levels. Missing doses may reduce its effectiveness in controlling blood pressure.

Overdose

Overdose symptoms may include severe dizziness, fainting, or a significant drop in blood pressure. Seek emergency medical attention immediately. Treatment may involve IV fluids or vasopressors. Store the medication safely to prevent accidental overdose.

Storage

Store telmisartan at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep it in the original blister pack until use. Avoid storing it in the bathroom or exposing it to excessive humidity. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
