Common Use

Carbamazepine belongs to a group of anticonvulsant and mood-stabilizing drugs. It is used for:

• Epilepsy
• Bipolar disorder
• Trigeminal neuralgia
• Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
• Schizophrenia
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Dosage and Direction

Take Tegretol by mouth with a glass of water, with or without food. Avoid cutting, crushing, or chewing this medicine.

• Do not take the medicine more often than prescribed.
• Do not stop taking it without your doctor's advice.
• It may take time for the medicine to work.
• Consult your doctor for the correct dosage.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have:
