Common Use

Tambocor is used to treat serious ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation and flutter. It helps restore and maintain a normal heart rhythm and is usually prescribed for patients with life‑threatening or symptomatic irregular heartbeats.

Dosage and Direction

Dosage is individualized based on the patient's condition and response. Adults typically start with a low oral dose, taken one to two times daily. Take the medication exactly as prescribed, with or without food. Do not change the dose or stop taking it without consulting your doctor.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have heart failure, structural heart disease, or liver/kidney problems before using Tambocor. Regular heart monitoring (ECG) may be required during treatment. Avoid alcohol and medications that can affect heart rhythm unless approved by your healthcare provider.

Contraindications

Tambocor should not be used if you have a history of cardiogenic shock, second- or third-degree AV block, or structural heart disease without a pacemaker. It is also contraindicated in severe heart failure or known hypersensitivity to flecainide. The medication should not be used during an acute heart attack.

Missed Dose

If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If it is near the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Overdose

Overdose may cause severe heart rhythm disturbances, fainting, or life‑threatening complications. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected. Emergency care may include supportive treatment, activated charcoal, or medications to stabilize the heart.

Storage

Store Tambocor at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
