Common Use

Azuflidine is a salicylate. Sulfasalazine is used to treat ulcerative colitis by reducing inflammation. It can also help increase the time between ulcerative colitis flare-ups.

Dosage and Directions

Take Azuflidine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow these guidelines:

• Take with food and a full glass of water
• Drink extra fluids while using this medication
• Space doses at least 8 hours apart
• Continue taking even if you feel well
• Do not miss doses

Precautions

Before taking Azuflidine, discuss with your doctor if you:

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Take any medications, herbal products, or supplements
• Have allergies to foods, medicines, or other substances

Drug Interactions

• Anticoagulants (warfarin) or methotrexate - increased risk of side effects
• Beta-blockers (propranolol), digoxin, or folic acid - reduced effectiveness
• Methenamine - increased risk of urinary crystals

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose:

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it's almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose
• Never take two doses at once

Overdose

Overdose symptoms may include:

• Seizures
• Severe stomach pain
• Unusual drowsiness

Contact your doctor immediately if overdose is suspected.

Storage

Store Azuflidine:

• Between 59-86°F (15-30°C)
• Away from heat, moisture, and light
• Out of reach of children
