Robaxin is a muscle relaxant used to relieve muscle pain and discomfort caused by sprains and strains. For best results, it should be used in combination with physical therapy and rest.
Take Robaxin orally with or without food or milk. The recommended dose for adults is 2 tablets four times daily, although therapeutic results have been achieved with doses as low as 1 tablet three times daily. Robaxin is not recommended for children.
Note: This information is provided for review purposes only. It is essential to consult your doctor before using Robaxin to ensure the best results.
Use Robaxin with caution if you have renal or hepatic impairment. It may cause drowsiness or dizziness, which can impair your ability to operate motor vehicles or machinery. Due to its central nervous system (CNS) depressant effects, avoid using Robaxin with alcohol or other CNS depressants.
Robaxin is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to methocarbamol or any of its excipients. It is also not recommended for individuals in coma or pre-coma states, those with brain damage, epilepsy, or myasthenia gravis.
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat. Serious reactions may include slow heart rate, fainting, jaundice, confusion, spinning sensation, loss of balance, or seizures.
Other possible side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, warmth, redness, tingling under the skin, fever, headache, memory problems, blurred vision, insomnia, stuffy nose, or mild skin rash or itching. Consult your doctor if you experience any of these, even if they seem minor.
Robaxin may inhibit the effects of pyridostigmine bromide. Therefore, it should be used cautiously in individuals with myasthenia gravis who are receiving anticholinesterase agents.
An overdose of Robaxin can be fatal. Symptoms of overdose include extreme drowsiness, nausea, blurred vision, fainting, or seizures. Seek emergency medical help immediately if an overdose is suspected.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.
Store Robaxin at room temperature, between 20-25°C (68-77°F). Keep it away from moisture and heat.
