Rhinocort is a corticosteroid medication used to prevent and relieve hayfever symptoms. Its active ingredient, budesonide, helps control inflammation, addressing issues like sneezing, runny nose, itching, eye symptoms, and nasal blockage. It effectively manages the inflammation caused by hayfever, providing relief from discomfort.
Begin using Rhinocort 1-2 weeks before allergen exposure to prevent hayfever symptoms. Take it daily for continued relief. The initial dose is 4 sprays into each nostril per day, either all in the morning or divided into 2 sprays in the morning and evening. Once symptoms improve, reduce the dosage to 1-2 sprays in each nostril in the morning. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist after 7 days.
Inform your doctor about any medical conditions before using Rhinocort, especially if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Also, disclose all medications, herbal products, or supplements you are taking. Be cautious if you have nasal or sinus infections, recent nasal surgery, open sores, severe congestion, or tuberculosis (TB).
Do not use Rhinocort if you are allergic to any of its components or are taking mifepristone.
Common side effects include headaches, dizziness, tiredness, sneezing after use, irritated nose, nosebleeds, nasal crust, dry nose or mouth, sore throat, cough, and increased sputum. Severe side effects may include facial swelling, difficulty breathing, severe rash, nasal ulcers, or signs of infection like fever, pain, or discolored discharge.
Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including:
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.
Symptoms of overdose include body discomfort, depression, difficulty breathing, dizziness, exhaustion, fainting, joint pain, loss of appetite, muscle aches, and nausea. Seek urgent medical help if these occur.
Store Rhinocort in its original container, tightly closed, at room temperature. Keep it away from heat, moisture, and children. Use within 6 months after opening the aluminum pouch.
