Common Use

Pyridium is a urinary tract analgesic. Its exact mechanism of action is unknown. This medication relieves pain, burning, urgency, frequent urination, and discomfort caused by irritation of the lower urinary tract.

Dosage and Directions

Take Pyridium as prescribed by your doctor. It should be taken orally with food.

Precautions

Inform your doctor about all medical conditions, especially if:

• You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
• You have allergies to medicines or food
• You have a history of certain blood problems (hemolysis)
• You have an enzyme deficiency called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) deficiency or a family history of this deficiency

• Yellowing of the skin or eyes

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Pyridium, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

Overdose

Symptoms of Pyridium overdose may include bluish skin, yellowing of the skin or eyes, and vomiting. If you suspect an overdose, seek urgent medical attention.

Storage

Store Pyridium at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit (20 and 25 degrees Celsius), in a tightly closed container. Keep it away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Pyridium out of the reach of children and pets.
