Prandin contains the active component Repaglinide, which stimulates insulin secretion from the pancreas. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus, typically in combination with diet therapy, physical activity, and sometimes alongside metformin.
Take Prandin orally 15-30 minutes before meals, usually three times a day. Dosage is individualized, with an initial recommended dose of 0.5 mg. The dose may be increased after 1-2 weeks if blood glucose levels require it. The maximum single dose is 4 mg, and the maximum daily dose is 16 mg. For patients switching from other oral diabetes medications, the initial recommended dose is 1 mg.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have liver or kidney impairments. Use Prandin cautiously in weakened patients or those scheduled for major surgery.
