Common Use

Paroxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat major depression, mood disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, and anxiety.

Dosage and Direction

Take Paxil Cr orally with water, with or without food. Do not cut, crush, or chew the medication. Follow your doctor's prescribed dosage and do not stop taking it without medical advice. It may take time for the medication to show effects. Consult your doctor for the correct dosage.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have allergies, bipolar disorder, or eye, liver, or kidney problems. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to side effects. Contraindications

Drug Interaction

• Antipsychotics: Fluphenazine
• H2-receptor antagonists: Cimetidine, Ranitidine, Famotidine, Nizatidine

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose.

Overdose

Seek emergency medical attention if you suspect an overdose. Symptoms may include chest pain, nausea, irregular heartbeat, and light-headedness or fainting.

Storage

Store at room temperature (68-77°F or 20-25°C), away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
