Motilium blocks peripheral and central dopamine receptors, removes the inhibitory influence of dopamine on the motor activity of the gastrointestinal tract, and increases the evacuative function and tone of the stomach. It has an anti-vomiting effect, soothes hiccups, and reduces nausea. Motilium is used to treat vomiting of various origins, hiccups, atonic gastrointestinal tract, the need to accelerate peristalsis for X-ray examinations, dyspepsia caused by slow stomach, gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophagitis, gas, and heartburn with or without the passage of gastric contents into the mouth.
Take Motilium orally 30 minutes before a meal. For adults and children older than 5 years, the recommended dose is 10 mg 3-4 times daily for dyspepsia. In cases of severe nausea and vomiting, the daily dose may be 20 mg 3-4 times daily. For patients with kidney failure, dose adjustment is necessary, and the number of daily intakes should not exceed 1-2 times. These are general recommendations; consult your doctor for personalized dosage adjustments based on specific conditions.
If you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Motilium or any other medication. Avoid using Motilium if you are breastfeeding.
Exercise caution in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency, during lactation, and pregnancy.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosage schedule.
Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, disorientation, and extrapyramidal disorders (especially in children). If you suspect an overdose and experience these symptoms, seek immediate medical help.
Store Motilium at room temperature between 59-77°F (15-25°C), away from light, moisture, children, and pets.
