Pharmacological Properties

Metaflam Oral Suspension belongs to the group of non‑steroidal anti‑inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Meloxicam exhibits anti‑inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. Its action is mediated primarily through selective inhibition of cyclo‑oxygenase‑2 (COX‑2), resulting in reduced synthesis of prostaglandins involved in inflammation, pain and fever.

Indications for Use

Metaflam Oral Suspension is indicated for the relief of inflammation and pain associated with acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders, degenerative joint diseases and postoperative pain. Intended for use in dogs and other species as specified by the manufacturer.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to meloxicam or other NSAIDs
• Gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding
• Severe hepatic, renal or cardiac impairment
• Dehydration, hypovolemia or hypotension
• Use in young animals below the minimum age specified by the manufacturer
• Use in pregnant or lactating animals unless under veterinary supervision

Dosage and Method of Administration

Administer orally either directly via syringe or mixed with food or drinking water. Dosage should be determined based on the animal's body weight and veterinary recommendation. Do not exceed the prescribed dose or duration of treatment.

Adverse Reactions

In rare cases vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite and lethargy may occur. Very rarely gastrointestinal ulceration, renal impairment or hypersensitivity reactions may develop. If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use and consult a veterinarian.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include gastrointestinal disturbances, depression and renal dysfunction. In case of overdose, initiate symptomatic and supportive treatment under veterinary supervision.

Special Warnings and Precautions

Do not administer concurrently with other NSAIDs or glucocorticoids. Ensure adequate hydration during treatment. Use with caution in elderly, debilitated or compromised animals. Veterinary supervision is recommended during prolonged use.
