Common Use

It's important to understand that Lumigan eye drops are not a cure for glaucoma. This treatment is prescribed by doctors to patients with glaucoma to reduce the risk of optic nerve damage and subsequent blindness. Our eyes have a natural structure that continuously produces a fluid to provide necessary nutrients. For the eye to function correctly, a balance must be maintained between fluid production and drainage. If drainage is slow, the fluid accumulates, increasing intraocular pressure. If left uncorrected, this high pressure can damage the optic nerve, potentially leading to blindness. Lumigan eye drops help promote fluid drainage, maintaining a stable balance between production and excretion.

Dosage and Direction

The standard dose of Lumigan eye drops is one drop of the 0.01% solution in the affected eye. If both eyes are affected, administer one drop in each eye. Before applying the drops, remove contact lenses as they may absorb some of the active ingredients. After placing the drop directly into the eye, gently close and open the eye to spread the solution evenly. Avoid rubbing your eyes, as this may cause more harm than good.

Precautions

Ensure your hands and the bottle are clean before application to prevent infections. Lumigan eye drops may cause temporary blurred vision, so avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until the effect subsides and your vision returns to normal.

Contraindications

If you have liver or kidney disease, consult your doctor before using Lumigan, as its effects on patients with these conditions have not been studied. Do not use the drops if you are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the active ingredients. Check the ingredient list before use. Inform your doctor if you have or recently had any eye infections.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects of Lumigan eye drops include eye redness, changes in eye color, itching, swelling, and dizziness. If these symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical attention immediately.

Drug Interactions

Lumigan eye drops may interact with bimatoprost topical (Latisse) and latanoprost ophthalmic (Xalatan). Consult your doctor if you are using these medications.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for your next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

Storage
