Dosage and Direction

Precautions

Contraindications

• Medications for seizures (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital)
• HIV/AIDS medications
• Heart rhythm medications (e.g., amiodarone, disopyramide, dofetilide, flecainide, ibutilide, quinidine, procainamide, propafenone, sotalol)
• Chloroquine, cisapride, diltiazem, grapefruit juice
• Medications for fungal infections (e.g., fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole)
• Methadone, nicardipine, pentamidine, pimozide, rifabutin, rifampin, rifapentine
• Antidepressants or mood medications (e.g., amoxapine, maprotiline, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, nefazodone, pimozide, phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants)
• Verapamil

Missed Dose

Do not miss the recommended dose to achieve the desired effect.

Overdose

In case of overdose, contact your doctor immediately.

Storage

Store at room temperature between 15-30°C (59-86°F). Do not use after the expiration date.

Common Use

Aciphex is an antiulcer medication that inhibits the proton pump (PPIs) and blocks stomach acid production. It is used to treat stomach ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and Helicobacter pylori infections.

Dosage and Directions

Your doctor will determine the dosage based on your condition. Typically, for acute duodenal ulcers, take 1 tablet (20 mg) once daily in the morning for 4-6 weeks. For H. pylori infections, treatment may last one week. Take Aciphex with a glass of water, with or without food.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have severe liver disease or stomach cancer before using Aciphex. It is not recommended for children. Notify your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Follow your doctor's instructions for combination treatments with antibiotics.

Contraindications

Avoid Aciphex if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or hypersensitive to it or other benzimidazoles like omeprazole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole, or esomeprazole.

Possible Side Effects

Drug Interaction

Aciphex may interact with medications whose absorption depends on stomach acidity. It reduces the absorption of ketoconazole and increases the absorption of digoxin, affecting their effectiveness and toxicity.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for the next dose, skip it and return to your regular schedule.

Overdose

Symptoms of Aciphex overdose are unknown. Seek emergency medical attention if you suspect an overdose.

Storage

Store at room temperature (59-77°F or 15-25°C) away from light, moisture, children, and pets.
