Letairis (ambrisentan) is prescribed for adults with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) to improve exercise ability and slow disease progression. It works as an endothelin receptor antagonist, blocking the action of endothelin‑1, a substance that causes blood vessels in the lungs to narrow.
Letairis is usually taken orally once daily, with or without food. Swallow tablets whole with water. Dosage is individualized based on liver function and other health conditions. Regular monitoring of liver function and hemoglobin levels is recommended.
Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, heart problems, low blood pressure, or a history of anemia. Avoid pregnancy while taking Letairis, as it may cause birth defects. Monitor for signs of swelling, dizziness, or jaundice.
Do not use Letairis if allergic to ambrisentan or any component of the tablet. It is contraindicated in pregnancy and in patients with severe liver impairment.
Letairis may interact with cyclosporine, rifampin, or other medications that affect liver enzymes. Inform your doctor of all prescription drugs, over‑the‑counter products, and supplements you are taking.
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose.
Overdose may cause severe hypotension, dizziness, or liver dysfunction. Seek immediate medical attention if overdose is suspected.
Store Letairis at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep tablets in the original container and out of reach of children.
