Ilaxten is prescribed for long‑term maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema, and may also be used for asthma in adults.

Dosage and Direction

Ilaxten is inhaled once daily using a handiHaler or inhaler device. Take the dose at the same time each day.

1. Inhale the medication using the handiHaler or inhaler.
2. Follow the device instructions carefully.
3. Rinse your mouth after each use to reduce throat irritation.

Precautions

Before using Ilaxten, inform your healthcare provider if you have glaucoma, urinary retention, bladder obstruction, heart problems, or kidney/liver disease.

• Watch for signs of difficulty urinating, eye pain, rapid heartbeat, or worsening breathing.
• Do not use Ilaxten as a rescue inhaler for sudden breathing problems.

Contraindications

Do not use Ilaxten if you are allergic to tiotropium, atropine, or related compounds.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects include dry mouth, cough, throat irritation, and constipation. Serious side effects may include rapid heartbeat, urinary retention, glaucoma exacerbation, or allergic reactions. Seek medical attention if serious symptoms occur.
