Common Use

Fulvicin is an antifungal medication used to treat fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails, such as jock itch, athlete's foot, and barber's itch. It can be used alone or in combination with other topical antifungal drugs.

Dosage and Direction

Consult your doctor before using Fulvicin. Use only as prescribed. Shake well before use. Take it orally once daily or in divided doses as directed by your doctor. For optimal benefits, take it with a high-fat meal.

• For children aged 2 years and older: 10-20 mg/kg/day in single or divided doses, or micro-size 5-10 mg/kg/day in single or divided doses.
• For adults: 330-375 mg/day in single or divided doses; doses up to 750 mg/day may be used for severe infections like tinea unguium.

Treatment duration varies by condition: several weeks for skin infections, one month for scalp infections, two months for foot infections, 3-4 months for fingernail infections, and at least six months for toenail infections.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to griseofulvin, penicillin, or other medications. Fulvicin can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight, so use protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Avoid alcohol while taking Fulvicin, as it may cause side effects like fast heartbeat, sweating, or facial flushing. Fulvicin is not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or if planning to become pregnant. Consult your doctor before use in these cases.

Contraindications

Fulvicin is contraindicated in individuals with hepatic disease, porphyria, systemic lupus erythematosus, lupus syndrome, blood disorders, liver or kidney disease, malignant tumors, or pregnancy.

Possible Side Effects

Potential side effects include:

• Allergic reactions (rash, swelling of face, lips, or tongue)
• Breathing problems
• Confusion
• Dark urine
• Fever or infection
• Loss of appetite
• Numbness, tingling, or pain in hands or feet
• Skin rash, redness, blistering, or peeling
• Sores or white patches in the mouth
• Unusual weakness or fatigue
• Yellowing of the eyes or skin

Less serious side effects may include dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or trouble sleeping. If you experience any of these, stop using Fulvicin and consult your doctor immediately.

Drug Interaction

Fulvicin may interact with the following drugs: desogestrel, ethinyl estradiol, etonogestrel, levonorgestrel, mestranol, norelgestromin, norethindrone, norgestrel, phenobarbital, and warfarin. Drug interactions do not always require discontinuation but may affect effectiveness. Consult your doctor to manage interactions.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose. Resume your regular dosing schedule the next day.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include lethargy, vertigo, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.

Storage

Store Fulvicin at room temperature, between 20-25°C (68-77°F).
