Common Use

The primary active ingredient in Fliban is flibanserin, with each tablet containing 100 mg. Flibanserin specifically targets and activates 5-HT1A receptors in the prefrontal cortex, showing regional selectivity. It has been observed to elevate dopamine and norepinephrine levels while reducing serotonin levels in the rat prefrontal cortex, effects mediated by 5-HT1A receptor activation.

Dosage and Direction

For the treatment of hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), the recommended dosage of Fliban is 100 mg taken orally once daily at bedtime. The therapeutic effects of flibanserin typically become noticeable after 4 weeks of consistent use and are maintained throughout the treatment period. If no symptom improvement is observed after 4 weeks, discontinue the use of Fliban.

It is important to note that Fliban is not intended to enhance sexual performance, nor is it approved for use in postmenopausal women or men. This medication is specifically indicated for premenopausal women experiencing acquired, generalized HSDD, characterized by low sexual desire causing significant distress or interpersonal difficulty, provided it is not attributable to coexisting medical or psychiatric conditions, relationship issues, or medication effects.

Precautions

Before starting Fliban, consult your healthcare provider, especially if you have a known allergy to flibanserin or other substances. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Fliban, as it can lead to dangerously low blood pressure. Fliban is contraindicated in individuals with:

• Low blood pressure
• A history of alcoholism or drug addiction
• Liver disease
• A history of depression or mental illness
• Current alcohol consumption

Certain medications may interact adversely with Fliban. Inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following: nefazodone, ciprofloxacin, larithromycin, erythromycin, telithromycin, fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, posaconazole, boceprevir, telaprevir, conivaptan, diltiazem, verapamil, atazanavir, fosamprenavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir, or saquinavir.

Flibanserin may impair cognitive or motor functions. Avoid driving or operating machinery for at least 6 hours after taking the medication and until you understand how it affects you. Dizziness or low blood pressure may increase the risk of falls or accidents.

The safety of flibanserin during pregnancy or breastfeeding is unknown. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited while taking Fliban, as it can lead to severe side effects. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice, as they may interact with flibanserin and cause adverse effects. Additionally, refrain from using herbal supplements containing ginkgo biloba, resveratrol, or St. John's wort.

Missed Dose

Storage
