Common Use

Finasteride is used to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), also known as Benign Enlargement of the Prostate (BEP). This medication helps manage symptoms, reduce urinary retention, and lower the risk of needing surgery.

Dosage and Direction

Take Fincar by mouth with a glass of water, with or without food. Avoid cutting, crushing, or chewing the medication. Consult your doctor for the appropriate dosage based on your condition.

Precautions

• Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to Finasteride or Dutasteride, or if you have other allergies.
• Since this medication can be absorbed through the skin, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should avoid handling it.

Contraindications

Fincar should not be used by women, children, or patients who have shown hypersensitivity to Finasteride.

Possible Side Effects

• Common side effects include dizziness, unusual weakness, drowsiness, trouble sleeping, blurred vision, runny nose, or ejaculation problems.
• Stop using Fincar and contact your doctor immediately if you experience serious side effects such as a painful or prolonged erection lasting 4 hours or more, severe dizziness, or fainting.

Drug Interaction

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.

Overdose

In case of suspected overdose, seek emergency medical attention immediately. Symptoms may include chest pain, nausea, irregular heartbeat, light-headedness, or fainting.

Storage

Store Fincar at room temperature (68-77°F or 20-25°C), away from light and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Keep all medications out of reach of children and pets.
