Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works as a sodium‑glucose co‑transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, reducing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, increasing glucose excretion, and helping to control blood sugar levels.
Take Farxiga once daily in the morning, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew. Adjust the dose based on kidney function, other medications, and patient response. Regular blood sugar monitoring is recommended.
Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, low blood pressure, a history of urinary tract infections, or a history of ketoacidosis. Maintain adequate hydration and monitor for signs of dehydration or urinary infections.
Do not use Farxiga if you are allergic to dapagliflozin or any component of the tablet. It is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney impairment, end‑stage renal disease, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless directed by a healthcare provider.
May interact with diuretics, blood pressure medications, insulin, and other antidiabetic drugs. Inform your healthcare provider about all prescription medications, over‑the‑counter products, and supplements you are taking.
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember unless it is close to the next scheduled dose. Do not double the dose.
Overdose may cause dehydration, severely low blood sugar, or kidney problems. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected.
Store Farxiga at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep tablets in the original container and out of reach of children.
