Elimite is used to treat head lice and scabies.
Massage the cream into your skin from the head to the soles of the feet. For infants, the medication should also be applied to the scalp, temple, and forehead. The standard quantity required for an adult is 30 gm. Typically, one treatment is sufficient to address the infection. Avoid applying the cream to irritated skin, open cuts, or wounds. Do not ingest orally. Keep the medication away from the nose, mouth, eyes, or genitals. If lice are still visible after a week, repeat the treatment.
Patients allergic to permethrin or chrysanthemums should avoid this medication. Do not use the cream while breastfeeding.
This medication is generally well tolerated. Rare side effects may include pruritus, erythema, numbness, rash, or tingling. Allergic reactions such as rash, hives, facial swelling, itching, mild burning, numbness, tingling, stinging, or redness may also occur.
Elimite, when applied topically, is unlikely to interact with other drugs. However, inform your doctor about all medications and herbal products you use.
Typically, this medication is used only once. If necessary, repeat the treatment after seven days.
Symptoms of Elimite overdose are not well-documented. Contact your doctor immediately if you suspect an overdose.
Store the tablets at room temperature between 15-30°C (59-86°F) in a dry, tight container away from moisture and sunlight.
