Dexlansoprazole (Dexilant) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and to reduce the risk of stomach ulcers caused by H. pylori infection or prolonged NSAID use. It works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.
Take Dexlansoprazole once daily, at least 30 minutes before a meal, or as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the capsule whole, do not crush, chew, or open it. If you cannot swallow the capsule, the contents can be mixed with applesauce.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's close to your next scheduled dose. Do not take two doses at once to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose symptoms may include confusion, severe dizziness, or irregular heartbeat. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected.
