Desonate is a low‑potency topical corticosteroid that helps relieve inflammation and itching from skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis by reducing redness, swelling, and irritation.
Apply a thin layer of Desonate gel to the affected area once or twice daily as directed by your healthcare provider. Do not apply to broken skin, eyes, or mucous membranes.
Inform your doctor if you have a history of skin infections, thinning skin, or immune system issues. Use cautiously on the face or in children, as prolonged application may increase absorption risk.
Do not use Desonate if you are allergic to Desonide or any of the gel's components. It should not be used for viral, fungal, or bacterial skin infections unless appropriate antimicrobial therapy is provided.
Common side effects include mild skin burning, stinging, or dryness. Rare but serious effects may include skin thinning, stretch marks, or hormonal imbalances with long‑term use.
Topical use of Desonate makes systemic interactions unlikely. However, tell your doctor about any other skin products or steroids you are using to avoid overexposure.
If you forget a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed dose - do not double up.
Excessive or prolonged use can increase absorption and lead to corticosteroid side effects. Contact your healthcare provider if signs of overuse occur.
Store at room temperature away from heat and direct light. Keep the tube tightly closed and out of reach of children.
