Combimist L Inhaler contains the following active ingredients: Levosalbutamol (50 mg) and Ipratropium bromide (20 mg). Please note that this medication may be available in different strengths for each active ingredient. Combimist L Inhaler works by relaxing the airways and muscles, helping to open the air passages in the lungs.
Levosalbutamol is a short-acting β2-adrenergic receptor agonist, approved for asthma, and belongs to the bronchodilator family. It relaxes the muscles of the airways, allowing air to flow smoothly through the lungs.
Ipratropium bromide is also a bronchodilator and works similarly. However, it is not intended to treat bronchospasm attacks as a quick-fix solution.
Combimist L Inhaler is available as a nasal spray but must be inhaled through the mouth. The recommended dosage is up to 3 times daily, with a maximum of 42 mcg per nostril (approximately two sprays).
Consult your doctor before using Combimist L Inhaler, especially if you have allergies, other prescriptions, existing medical conditions, or are pregnant. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to ipratropium or levosalbutamol. Follow your doctor's prescription and read the information on the packaging carefully. Contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately if you experience any allergic reactions, such as:
Animal studies have not shown risks during pregnancy, but the safety of using Combimist L Inhaler during pregnancy is not fully established.
Ipratropium bromide should not be used by patients with hypersensitivity to atropine or its derivatives. Its use for treating bronchospasm in acute COPD exacerbation is not well-studied, and alternative drugs may be preferred. Combining Ipratropium bromide with beta agonists is not proven to be more effective than using it alone for acute COPD exacerbation. Rare hypersensitivity reactions, such as urticaria, angioedema, rash, oropharyngeal edema, and bronchospasm, have been reported.
Levosalbutamol is generally well-tolerated, but common side effects may include:
Other potential side effects of Combimist L Inhaler include:
Contact your doctor if you experience any side effects, especially if they worsen. Report any new side effects to your local FDA administration.
Ipratropium bromide is safe and effective when used with beta-adrenergic bronchodilators. It can also be used with other pulmonary medications, such as methylxanthines and corticosteroids, without adverse interactions.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed one and continue with the regular schedule. Do not take two doses at the same time or exceed the prescribed amount. Consult your doctor if unsure.
If you suspect an overdose, contact your local poison control center or hospital immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include:
Store Combimist L Inhaler in a dry place at temperatures below 25°C (77°F). It can be used at temperatures between 15°C and 30°C (59°F to 86°F) for short periods. Keep it away from extreme heat and moisture, and out of reach of children and pets.
