Dutasteride is used to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), also known as benign enlargement of the prostate (BEP). This medication helps control symptoms, reduce urinary retention, and lower the risk of needing surgery.
Take Avodart by mouth with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not cut, crush, or chew this medicine. Consult your doctor for the proper dosage.

In case of an overdose, seek emergency medical attention right away. Symptoms may include chest pain, nausea, irregular heartbeat, light-headedness, or fainting.
Store Avodart at room temperature (68-77°F or 20-25°C) away from light and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Keep all medications out of reach of children and pets.
