Common Use

Apcalis SX Oral Jelly is a variation of Generic Cialis. The main component of Apcalis is Tadalafil. Apcalis is an effective, reversible, selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE 5) specific to cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). When sexual stimulation causes local release of nitric oxide, inhibition of PDE 5 by Cialis leads to an increase of cGMP levels in the cavernous body of the penis. It results in relaxation of arterial smooth muscles and blood flow to the tissues of the penis, causing erections. Cialis has no effect in the absence of sexual stimulation. Apcalis improves erection and allows for successful sexual intercourse. The drug remains effective for up to 36 hours. If sexual arousal is present, the effect can appear as soon as 16 minutes after taking the medication.

Dosage and Direction

The recommended dose of Apcalis is 20 mg, which should be taken at least 16 minutes before sexual activity. The effect persists for up to 36 hours. Take Apcalis once daily and do not exceed the recommended dose.

Precautions

It is advisable to avoid using Apcalis with grapefruit juice, alcoholic beverages, or tobacco. Smoking tobacco while taking Apcalis may lead to a condition called NAION (sudden optic nerve-related vision loss). Inform your doctor before taking Apcalis if you have:

• An abnormal penis, including a curved penis or birth defects of the penis
• Coronary artery disease, arrhythmia, angina, heart attack, or heart failure
• Hypotension or hypertension
• Bleeding disorders or stomach ulcers
• Diabetes or hyperlipidemia (excess lipids in the blood)
• Sickle-cell anemia
• Liver or kidney failure

Contraindications

Apcalis is contraindicated in patients using any form of organic nitrate, either regularly or intermittently, as it can potentiate the hypotensive effect of nitrates.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects of Apcalis include:

• Facial flushing (reddening)
• Headaches
• Stomach upset
• Diarrhea
• Flu-like symptoms
• Nausea

In rare cases, the following may occur:

• Low blood pressure
• Blurred vision or changes in color vision
• Abnormal ejaculation
• Prolonged erections or priapism (painful erections lasting more than 6 hours)

If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours, seek immediate medical help as it may cause permanent damage to the penis. Aggravation of heart problems in patients with pre-existing heart disease has been reported.

Drug Interactions

Co-administration with medications containing organic nitrates may cause severe hypotension, which can be dangerous. Avoid taking Apcalis with:

• Erythrityl Tetranitrate
• Isosorbide Dinitrate
• Isosorbide Mononitrate
• Nitroglycerin
• Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate

Apcalis levels and toxicity may be increased by:

• Erythromycin
• Ketoconazole (Nizoral)
• Itraconazole (Sporanox)
• Indinavir (Crixivan)
• Ritonavir (Norvir)

Inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following, as your Apcalis dose may require adjustment:

• Atazanavir
• Bunazosin
• Clarithromycin
• Doxazosin
• Moxisylyte
• Nefazodone
• Nelfinavir
• Phenoxybenzamine
• Phentolamine
• Prazosin
• Saquinavir
• Telithromycin
• Terazosin
• Trimazosin
• Urapidil

Missed Dose

A missed dose is not applicable for Apcalis when used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, as it is taken only when needed.

Overdose

An overdose of Apcalis may cause symptoms similar to its side effects. Seek immediate medical help if you believe you have taken too much of this medication.

Storage

Store Apcalis at room temperature away from moisture, sunlight, children, and pets in a tightly closed container.
