Common Use

Alfuzosin is an alpha-blocker used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia in men with an enlarged prostate. It works by blocking receptors in the lower urinary tract, relaxing smooth muscles in the bladder neck and prostate.

Dosage and Directions

Use Alfuzosin exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow these guidelines:

• Take it orally with the same meal every day.
• Do not split, crush, break, or chew the tablet, swallow it whole.

Precautions

Use Alfuzosin with caution due to potential side effects:

• May cause dizziness, drowsiness, or lightheadedness.

• Painful prolonged erection
• Yellowing of skin/eyes (jaundice)
• Severe stomach pain

Drug Interactions

Inform your doctor if you take:

• Azole antifungals
• Macrolide antibiotics
• Amiodarone
• Other alpha-blockers
• HIV protease inhibitors
• Nefazodone
• Nitrates
• PDE5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil)
• Telithromycin

These may increase the risk of severe low blood pressure.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose:

• Take it as soon as remembered
• If near next dose time, skip the missed dose
• Never take double doses

Overdose

Symptoms may include:

• Fainting
• Irregular heartbeat

Seek immediate medical attention for suspected overdose.

Storage

Store Alfuzosin properly:

• At room temperature (25°C/77°F)
• In a tightly closed container
• Away from heat, moisture, and light
• Not in the bathroom
