Actoplus Met is used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It combines two medication: Pioglitazone and Metformin help the body respond better to insulin and reduce glucose production in the liver.
Take Actoplus Met orally, usually once or twice daily with meals to minimize stomach upset. The dosage is adjusted based on your blood sugar levels and medical history.
Before starting this medication, inform your doctor if you have heart disease, kidney or liver problems. Avoid excessive alcohol intake while on this drug, as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis.
Do not take Actoplus Met if you have severe kidney disease or metabolic acidosis. It is not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, and headache. Rare but serious risks include heart failure or lactic acidosis, especially in people with kidney problems.
This drug may interact with insulin, diuretics, corticosteroids, and other antidiabetic medications. Always provide a full list of your current medications to your healthcare provider.
If you miss a dose, take it with food as soon as you remember. Skip it if it's almost time for the next one not double dose.
Seek emergency help in case of overdose. Symptoms can include weakness, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, or signs of severe lactic acidosis.
Store Actoplus Met at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the medication in its original container, out of reach of children.
